Buccaneer Mk1 XN 934 of 800 Sqdn ready to launch from HMS EAGLE in October 1965. Lt.Cdr. Chase USN (P) and Lt. Markley USN (O). (John Stevens)

XN 934 returns to the ship with double proportioner failure & unable to land. Lt Markley ejects. (John Stevens).

(2). USN crew, Lt. Cdr Chase ejecting from the stricken Buccaneer Mk1 XN 934.

(3). The aricraft, minus crew and ejection seats, flies on for seven minutes. Fears mount as XN 934 circles and dives at the ship.

(4). It misses and crashes into the sea beside the ship. (The rescued crew watched from the flight deck as the aircraft crashed into the sea).

(5). All that remained of XN 934 was recovered.
