POST-RN CAREER
"On leaving the navy, I joined the Dowty Group and worked in various of the Group's then companies,
principally concerned with the training of apprentices and running the
Group's YOP (Youth Opportunities Programme). When the Training Department
was axed, I became a Technical Author."
NOTEWORTHY EVENTS
"My best draft was the PTA Unit. I took the
unit to Cape Town in 1966, during the seamen's strike. As a result of the
strike, the equipment that should have been shipped from Liverpool was
delayed. The whole crew therefore had a three-week holiday in a hotel in
Cape Town. Very nice! Then we had a very good exercise with
the South African Navy."
